Design representation for a glass jug in the form a 17th Century leather 'Black Jack' Jug, RD 75175, registered by W. P. and G. Phillips, 358 & 359 Oxford Street, London, W. (China and Glass manufacturer and retailer).

Manufactured for the retailers Phillips of Oxford Street as a glass water set (jug + two water glasses conforming), engraved with the cypher of CR (Charles I, Carolus Rex) and the date 1646, the date Charles I surrendered to the Scots.
The original leather jug is in the British Museum, acquired from Mrs Ruth Faulkner the executor of the archeologist J F Lucas
