Silver Overlay/Deposit
People have different ideas of what is overlay and what is deposit, but I use them interchangeably to describe the processes used in the attachment of silver to glass. In this example, a Christine sugar (sans lid) by Heisey, the glass was first etched to provide the pattern. A flux was then painted where the silver would go. The piece was fired (I think) and the flux bonded with the glass. The object was then electroplated in a silver bath.
